When I was walking up to the front door, I met a woman that told me she had bought 2 trailers from Rick's and was there today to purchase another. I asked her what made Rick's THE PLACE. She told me you can buy a trailer anywhere but when it to service there is no place even close to Rick's. They were very busy that day so we walked around the lot and looked. Tyler, Rick, or Gabe would walk by and check on us regularly and see if we had an questions. I left with a good idea of what I wanted but wasn't positive and it was after closing time. I came back a few days later in the rain (2 hour drive) and Travis showed and explained the two trailers I was most interested in. We made the deal and a few days later after the rain stopped I went to pick up my 274WK Cherokee. I knew very little about a trailer's functions. Gabe took plenty of time explaining everything in detail to the rv newbie. A week later, coronavirus showed it's ugly head and we had a problem with the trailer. I called them and explained the problem. Gabe said it would take less than a couple of hours to fix. He knew I lived a couple of hours away so he made an appointment for the next morning. I drove in, backed my trailer in the shop, didn't disconnect from my truck, and walked inside the office. We were gone within the hour headed home. Outstanding service. I had wanted a travel trailer for years but I had heard the same old story over and over about someone needed service, dropped off the trailer for repair, and then had to wait weeks to get it back. When I backed my trailer in their shop, the parts they ordered were on a service cart along side of a rolling tool box with 2 service techs ready to install. Thanks Rick's RV for keeping it all family owned and personal
There is not enough room here for me to state all the superlatives in describing Rick's RV and Sales. Tyler was my point of contact over the phone and email for the purchase of a 2019 Flagstaff Micro Lite travel trailer. I have never made a large purchase via the internet/telephone with just photos and the goodwill of the dealer. We drove approximately 400 miles to Ville Platte and it was the best decision to deal with such customer-oriented people. Tyler ensured the trailer was checked out "from head to toe" to ensure all systems were operating properly. If you find the trailer you want at Rick's through the internet, put your worries to rest. They are honest, reputable people that you can trust. I'm just sorry I live 400 miles from their dealership for future service needs. Thank you Tyler, for being so helpful and trustworthy.
I bought a Flagstaff travel trailer from Tyler last week. I am from SC. I had looked for a specific 832OKBS Flagstaff over several months. This one was a 2018 slightly used one. It was very fairly priced for the make and model. I had visited several dealers in GA, NC, and SC. I had called dealers in several other states as well. Ricks people were low key and low pressure small town folks. I hated it when some of the other dealer sales folks kept calling be back many times with "another offer". Rick's RV had the best deal for me I found anywhere. I made 2 trips in one week for this trailer about 3200 miles total. I was in the area on business (truck driver) and had to come back with my pickup truck to haul it home. I'm used to driving, and besides camping is going to be many long drives as well. If you want good old fashion small town service, give Rick's RV a chance. Thank you Tyler.
My wife and I found Rick's RV on the internet while researching different brands of travel trailers. We made the short drive from Lake Charles to Ville Platte to take a look. I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness of the facility and the friendliness of the staff. We decided to buy or travel trailer that day and we love it. Tyler helped me work out several issues with my truck and someone is always available by phone to answer questions if you are new to camping as we were. Also, we were impressed with their full service shop and feel that they could handle any problems or service work that we may need in the future. I would recommend these guys to anyone considering an RV purchase.
Searched online for that particular Model Rv. Found Ricks Rv Sales online and did the whole transaction over the phone and email. I was already hesitant since another Rv Dealer sold one from under me. But I drove the 7 hours to pick it up. Im so glad I did. I was blown away at their customer service. Amazing staff. They definitely go above and beyond to make you happy and I would definitely recommend them. Thanks to Ricks Rv Sales and all the staff.
Had great experience at Ricks will be back
Back in 2005 my wife and I attended a rv show in Lafayette and looked around ,talked to every dealer there. Well Mr. Rick showed us just what we were looking far. We purchased it and over the years with outstanding friendliness and service have agreed there is only one RV dealership in south louisiana, thats Rick's RV. So 12 years later we decided to upgrade ,well we drove past 3 rv dealers in Lafayette to Ville Platte and found a used fifth wheel that we purchased. Tyler and Gabe, like there dad made the purchase experience great. I highly recommend you drive past the other dealers to Ville Platte, you won't be sorry.
Way better buying experience than going to the big dealers here in DFW area, and was well worth the drive!! Travis and Tyler got our camper modified with the extras we wanted and didn't try to sell us on things we didn't need. From the time we walked in the door, everyone was super friendly and not trying to rush us out the door. When we made it to the service department, Kevin walked us through every aspect of the trailer. He had no problem with us asking different scenario questions and had an answer for everything. You could also tell that they double checked and tested everything on the trailer. They even had our weight distribution hitch all setup by the time we finished the walk through too. My wife was skeptical of buying from a small "mom & pop" dealer but she did a 180 by the time we left. I would make the 300mi trip again to buy a trailer from Rick's!! Thank you again to ALL the staff!!!
We have owned 5 RVs over the past 15 years from various dealers around Texas and ventured out to Louisiana to seek a better experience. We found it! The best ever in sales and superb service. And that is saying a lot when 'one of us' is a perfectionist in quality product and repairs. They have a mud-free lot to view the units, a clean and organized shop in which to accommodate repairs, absolutely the best prep and repair turn-around time, and an extremely helpful attitude when coordinating warranty services. Wish we had found them sooner and saved ourselves lots of stress and headaches. We highly recommend Rick's RV and all the staff for your RV needs.
On vacation in Idaho and slide motor on Montana High Country stopped working. The motor was not available locally at any dealership. Every place I checked online was back-ordered and would be a week or longer to receive. I called Gabe and he overnighted one to me that worked perfectly. I was on the road the next day. Outstanding folks and they care about their customers. Thanks again
Tyler: Thank you for everything. We both appreciated the fact you were not one of those used car salesmen and allowed us to chose the camper We will enjoy for a long time. Not one like other companies try to put you in. Rick's RV was the first place we were able to find a camper that fit our criteria and actually had it in stock. Everyone else had to order it and would take over a month to come in. The whole process was actually fun for a change. You were very informative and walked thru every aspect of what to do and expect from the camper. My only regret is I wish my wife could have been there for the walk thru and setup procedure. I will be telling everyone to go to Rick's RV for their new camper or their trade in. Thank you again for what we see as many years of fun with our grandson and family.
Back in 2017-2018, I made a decision that an RV, specifically a travel trailer, was in my family’s future. I knew initially that I was a long way from making a purchase, but I decided to scour the internet in an effort to become a more savvy and informed purchaser. Having watched hundreds of videos and having attended numerous RV open houses the past few years, my family got the opportunity to see numerous floorplans from several different manufacturers. We knew that the Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2509S or its twin, the Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite 25BRDS was the “perfect” travel trailer for us. At 25’ 11”, it was small enough to go to all the State Parks and National Parks, yet big enough to be comfortable inside on a rainy day. Also, at 5,300 pounds dry weight (no propane, batteries or water), it was definitely towable by a ½ ton truck or large SUV. Fast forward to January 2021, and I was finally ready to make a purchase. I will readily admit that even though the Rockwood Mini Lite 2509S or its twin, the Flagstaff Micro Lite 25BRDS are nearly identical, the exterior graphics on the Mini Lite were slightly more appealing. However, being identical trailers, I was prepared to purchase either one, depending on which one I could negotiate the better deal. I started a hard target internet search throughout the Southeast; however, I preferred to purchase close to Southeast Louisiana, as this is where we live and I wanted to establish a relationship with a dealership. I never dreamed I would purchase my travel trailer in Ville Platte, Louisiana; however, my internet search showed they had a 2021 Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite 25BRDS on their lot. Furthermore, it had the white 2-tone exterior, the light colored (Newport ash) wood interior and the light colored (Mojave) furniture color. These were all preferences of my wife, and you know the old saying “Happy wife, happy life”. Also, this particular unit had the 15K A/C upgrade from the 13.5K A/C, power stabilizer jacks, night roller shades, a 12 volt -11 cubic foot DC refrigerator with a 190 watt solar panel on the roof, a Maxxair vent fan in the bathroom and an onboard water purifier. Salesman and co-owner Tyler Johnson made me a very fair deal that I would have been hard pressed to beat. His price under the advertised MSRP amounted to a discount of over 20%, which is very good in what is a buyer’s market right now. He was a true pleasure to deal with telephonically and via email prior to the purchase and answered every text and email in a timely fashion. I am “over the top” when it comes to asking questions, even though I considered myself an informed purchaser; and for the record, Tyler responded to over 40 emails over the course of 14 days. I told you I was “over the top”. I picked up our trailer on 12 FEB 2021 and knew beforehand that Tyler would not be there, as he was on vacation. However, his brother Gabe Johnson, who runs the service department and is also a co-owner, closed out the sale and walked me through my PDI (pre-delivery inspection) to familiarize me with how the trailer works. Gabe spent approximately 2 hours with me showing me how every single component worked both inside and outside the trailer. He was pleasant and patient and was very good at what he does in the service department. As a hard freeze was arriving a few days after my purchase, service department technicians Greg and his son Gabe (a different Gabe and not Gabe Johnson) drained all the water from my trailer so I would not incur any frozen pipes. They even drained all the water from the hot water heater and cleared the water lines with low pressure compressed air so I would not have any issues. Rick’s RV Sales carries the Equalizer weight distribution (WD) hitch and installs them almost exclusively. However, I chose the Andersen weight distribution hitch for its lighter weight (55 lbs. for the Andersen vs. almost 100 lbs. for the Equalizer). Although they had never installed one, they let me watch them install it, as I had read the instructions and watched the installation video several times and was able to provide them with some input. They even helped me adjust my tow mirrors before leaving. I can’t say enough good things about Rick’s. They are a family owned and run business with a good selection of units on site. Although not as big as some of the chain dealerships, their personalized service cannot be beat. Heck, they even offered to buy me lunch when they went to pick up food for their staff. If you are in the market for a new RV, I implore you to give Rick’s a call. Tell them Mike C. sent you.
